Who are your leadership heroes?
Leadership heroes come to you for different reasons here are a few I met along my journey:
Judy Heumann - A women who has excelled in advancing the rights of disabled people across the world
Alan Thomson - Founding leader of Orchardville Society for demonstrating how to nuture individuals and for integrity at all levels.
Sir Gerry Robinson - Business approach and how he demonstrated cross cutting themes. Highlighting how important ground swell opinions and thoughts are to business.
Three pieces of advice you would provide to your younger self starting out in your first CEO role
1.Always have integrity, motivation and belief in what you are trying to achieve.
2.Bring people with you on the journey, recipients of your service, staff board and appropriate networks
3.Plan well to achieve vision and mission but ensure you maintain flexibility to avail and respond to opportunities along the way.

Like a lot of people during lockdown, I have discovered gardening, more specifically planting vegetables. Dug my first ever vegetable plot, now delighted to see stuff actually growing. Metaphor for management somewhere there.

In my youth I was a Black Sabbath fan and when I turned 50, some 15 years ago, I returned to my roots and purchased a pair of purple Dr Martens boots - they remain pretty and pristine!

Who are your leadership heroes?
Stephen Covey – as a leadership guru as he places so much importance on integrity and the link between personal and professional self –authenticity.
My parents – who encouraged me in different ways, my Dad who believed so much in life long learning and my Mum who believed women could do anything they wanted to do!
Fionnuala McAndrew – who as a female leader was caring, authentic, generous with her time for others, knowledgeable, visionary and who led with authenticity – some I would wish to be like.
