Cyber Security in GDPR

Tuesday, December 5, 2017 - 08:00 to 10:00
Capita Managed IT Solutions, Hillview House, 61 Church Road, Newtownabbey, BT36 7LQ

Capita invites you to attend Cyber Security in GDPR breakfast briefing.

Cyber Fraud is a reality, with the charity sector coming under as much threat as any other. The recent “WannaCry” ransomware attack on the NHS brought the service to its knees. Within one day in May 2017 more than 230,000 computers in over 150 countries were infected.

The new European Union General Data Protection Regulation (EUGDPR) is the biggest shake-up in data protection law in a generation and will affect organisations worldwide. Cybercrime is continuing to increase at an exponential rate, meaning more businesses are likely to fall victim to a data breach, which could lead to serious consequences.

Failure to comply will come with fines, which could be up to 4% of an organisation’s annual turnover.

So, what steps does your organisation need to take?

Organisations must take counter-measures to help avoid such attacks, including implementing a robust cyber security plan. In addition, it’s essential to train staff to look out for suspicious activity and signs of identity theft.

Why is Capita complying with the GDPR?

As an organisation with approximately 67,000 employees and circa 200 million customer contacts per year, Capita has built its reputation on trust.  Capita Managed IT Solutions, through its C2k program, manages the largest private cloud network in Europe, with approximately 380,000 users across every school in Northern Ireland.  Compliance with GDPR is a culture within the Capita Group.

What will you take away from this presentation?

This event will cover the appropriate next steps necessary to ensure you successfully implement the recommendations for a robust, secure environment, with the focus on Detection, Protection, and Business Processes.
