Dealing with the Media on Difficult Issues: 1 Day Training Course
Delivered by Nick Garbutt and Rob Morrison, this bespoke training course will take you through all the steps required to prepare for a crisis, including devising a realistic scenario for you to work on, followed by the ultimate test: an “as live interview” in a studio environment.
Third Sector Chief Executives and Senior Managers are often in the media spotlight, highlighting the plight and challenges of those they represent. However, when the recent news story relating to Chief Executives’ pay in the Third Sector arose, it raised a set of questions that many of us have little experience of responding to.
The course will help you:
- To understand how to prepare on tough issues
- To give you the confidence to engage with the media
- To prepare yourself for an interview
- To get your key messages across.
Delivered by Nick Garbutt and Rob Morrison, this bespoke training course will take you through all the steps required to prepare for a crisis, including devising a realistic scenario for you to work on, followed by the ultimate test: an “as live interview” in a studio environment. It will provide a comprehensive overview of how to handle the media including “how to take the pressure off” and “handling crisis communications”.
Plunging leaders who may normally be top-notch media performers into situations they are unequipped to handle, may have huge implications for the individual and the organisation they represent. Indeed, as witnessed in the Republic of Ireland, the actions of a select few Chief Executives had a number of repercussions for the Third Sector. Leadership in a crisis situation is very different from leadership in a time of normal conditions. This one day media training course designed in partnership with Inside Track Media, has been tailored to help you prepare for the worst!
Delegates will be shown how to get the best out of any media engagement; how to look and feel confident in any interview situation and how to avoid the obvious pitfalls. Delegates will also learn how to respond to hostile questions; how to avoid questions they don’t want to answer and how to avoid having to say “no comment”.
Places are limited to a maximum of eight places, and will be offered on a first come, first served basis. Chatham rules will apply.
