Inspiring Impact Reconnect Session

CO3 and CDHN are pleased to be running a joint reconnect session to support leaders and their organisations that have either started or are thinking about starting impact measurement.  This session is focussed on offering participants practical support. 

This half-day session on Tuesday 17 November, 9.30am – 1.00pm , will take place at CO3 Offices, 34 Shaftesbury Square, Belfast .

Agenda

9.00am – 9.30am            Registration and networking

9.30am – 11.00am          An honest conversation between Third Sector leaders and funders on impact practice

Two of the organisations involved in the Funders Pilot Programme, Public Health Agency and Department of Social Development, Sharon Polson, and Mind wise from the Voluntary and Community Sector will reflect on their experiences and lessons learned from participating in Inspiring Impact Pilot Programme.

In the second part of the session we will be hearing from following organisations:  PlayBoard, Gauge NI, Age NI and Volunteer Now. This session will focus on, resources, tools and next steps for impact practice.

The objectives of the Reconnect session are to:

1. Gain feedback from organisations and funders, who have started to consider impact measurement.  Find out on where they are in terms of the impact cycle, and how they have progressed in the last year, and find out what areas they would like more help with.

2. Discuss, open and honestly, our approaches and thoughts on impact practice.

3. Look at local resources that are currently available to help them with the different stages of the impact cycle

4. Practical advice from impact practitioners on what they might do next to progress their impact practice. 

In the first part of the morning we will hear experiences from organisations from both strands of  Inspiring Impact Pilot Programme; the funders and the community and voluntary sector.  This will be followed by roundtable thoughts, reflections and discussions on Impact Practice;  an honest conversation between C&V leaders and funders.

Public Health Agency and Department for Social Development

Two of the organisations involved in the Funders Pilot Programme, Public Health Agency and Department of Social Development, Sharon Polson, will reflect on their experiences and lessons learned from participating in Inspiring Impact Pilot Programme.


MindWise

MindWise is a leading mental health charity, who took part in Inspiring Impact Pilot Programme.  They will reflect on their journey and what impact practice means to them.


In the second part of the session we will be hearing from following organisations:  PlayBoard, Gauge NI, Age NI and Volunteer Now. This session will focus on, resources, tools and next steps for impact practice.


PlayBoard – Inspiring Impact in childcare sector

Alan will reflect on PlayBoard’s participation in the Inspiring Impact Pilot Programme which is providing direct support to, and utilising Inspiring Impact’s tools with ten School Age Childcare Member Groups so that they are better able to:

  • understand and assess impact practice;
  • access information on impact tools/resources;
  • and plan to apply impact practice within their business setting.

 

Age NI -  Measuring Impact in the age sector. 

EJ Havlin will present on her experience of measuring impact in the age Sector. Her focus will be on:

  • Practical implementation;
  • The barriers experienced;
  • Utilising the ‘cycle of impact practice’ model in reality;
  • Communicating & celebrating the difference that is made to the lives of older people.

 

Volunteer Now – Measuring Impact with your volunteers

Volunteer Now have a Volunteering Impact Assessment toolkit that helps organisations and groups to measure and assess the impacts of volunteering. It can be used by anyone who involves volunteers in their organisation or coordinates their activities. Volunteer Now will give a brief overview of the toolkit and the range of downloadable tools and resources. The tools are simple and adaptable and include questionnaires and guides for interviews and focus groups.

 

Gauge NI

Gauge NI is a social enterprise that supports organisations to better understand, measure and communicate their social impact. Part of the NOW Group, their profits are re-invested to support people with barriers to employment. Stephen will provide an introduction to measuring social impact exploring the resources available to help you with a focus on practical tools and methodologies particularly Social Return on Investment (SROI) with a number of useful case studies from organisations that have embedded impact measurement successfully.

 

There will be short presentations from the 4 organisations involved followed by a question panel.

We are keen for the session to be as interactive as possible and so would welcome any questions or topic areas where you are struggling so we can focus the help on these key areas.
