Pausing On Purpose - The Art of Mindful Leadership
In turbulent times with multiple and competing demands, a mindful organisational culture supports clear strategy, compassionate presence, effective performance and creative problem solving.
Increasingly, effective leadership is associated with facilitating dialogue, listening, collaborating and learning. However, the day to day life of a leader is often reduced to back-to-back meetings, fire fighting, dealing with constantly changing conditions and meeting the unrelenting demands of many stakeholders. Unsurprisingly leaders often say that they feel overworked and overwhelmed.
Mindfulness has an important role to play in developing resilient and sustainable leadership. Just as an athlete engages in specific training to ‘train the body’ the leader can engage in Mindfulness to ‘train the mind’. In practicing mindfulness we learn to cultivate our ability to focus on what matters most, to embody compassion, to be flexible and innovative and to see beyond the limits and obstacles that might stop us.
Pausing on Purpose is a one-day introductory workshop suitable for anyone wanting to explore how to lead more calmly and effectively.
Grounded in a Mindfulness Based Approach, the aim of the workshop is to empower leaders and to strengthen the four pillars of effective leadership: focus, clarity, creativity and compassion.
During the workshop participants will explore mindfulness as a way of cultivating consistently effective leadership. They will be guided through a series of mindful practices and introduced to the main principles and practices of Mindful Leadership including: leading with presence, managing workplace stress, mindful communication and meetings, wise decision-making and purposeful action.
The training offered is based on the world-renowned Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction programme designed by Jon Kabat Zinn. It is grounded in neuroscience and the experiences of top business leaders worldwide.
The workshop will support leaders to:
- Practice mindfulness to cultivate mental and physical resilience.
- Engage their inner wisdom, insights and intuition as the foundation of their leadership.
- Become more comfortable with impermanence and uncertainty and deal with change calmly and skillfully.
- Refuse to be limited or defined by the prevailing conditions or circumstances.
- Allow space for creative solutions to arise.
- Connect deeply with others.
- Recognise the limiting stories and unproductive patterns, both within themselves and in workplace interactions and learn how to create more empowering habits and respond to challenges more effectively.
