POSTPONED Chairs' Forum-'Strategic Change Management for Third Sector Chairs and Trustees'

Being the Chair of a Charity has its blessing and its challenges.  Chairing is a key leadership role and Chairs make a huge difference to their organisation, either for good or for ill.

The Chairperson in a Third Sector organisation plays an important role. The Chair holds responsibility for leading the Board and setting its agenda. It is often the Chair to whom trustees look for advice, guidance and reassurance on all aspects of charities' governance The Chair also works closely with the Chief Executive and is a public face for the Organisation. To support Chairs in this important role CO3 set up the Chairs Forum in 2016 as a safe space for third sector chairs to respond to the challenges of the role through sharing experience and expertise with peers, gaining advice and support to promote good practice. The Chairs’ Forum will be Chaired by Patrick Minne, Director of Engage Executive Talent.

 

The Chairs Forum reconvenes on Wednesday 8 April at CO3.  

This time we'll be discussing organisational change management from the board's perspective.  

The session will act as a primer for the uninitiated, and as a forum to swap experiences for those who have been through a change management process, whether formal or otherwise. 

We'll be led by Aidan Bennett, a change management practitioner with wide experience in both private and third sectors who will tease out the issues based on a case study.  We will then open out the session to questions, observations and challenges from the rest of the group. 

The session will be open to Chairs, Vice Chairs and prospective chairs within the CO3 Trustee Network.  We see this an important platform to provide helpful information through updates and briefings. Each forum has a dedicated theme arising from discussions from members.

Patrick Minne

Patricks' working career has taken him from media-monitoring and financial IT project management in 1990s Edinburgh, through to website management and Customer Relationship roles back in Ireland in the 2000s, all the while doing interesting volunteering jobs on the side.
Patrick joined the Third Sector in Belfast in 2007. Five years later, he was asked to head up Charity Bank in Northern Ireland; an organisation which then provided social investment training and still finances a range of charities. During this time Patrick became involved with CO3 with a "really rewarding", five-year stint as treasurer of the organisation. In 2017 he led the startup phase of the Air Ambulance NI charity before freelancing on a range of interesting small non-profit projects and  Extern, Ireland’s biggest social work charity. 

Patrick has recently returned to CO3, becoming the newly appointed Director Of Business Development in September 2019.
