The session will look at the VAT issues around mergers, acquisitions and structures including:

  • What issues does a third sector organisation need to consider when looking to sell or acquire activities
  • Is it more VAT efficient to acquire a company or the assets
  • VAT issues on the transfer of an undertaking to a third party - can Transfer of a Going Concern be useful?
  • What are the main things to look for in an agreement for transfer


Who Should Attend

This event is aimed at the Chief Executives and senior finance personnel of the organisations and will commence at 4pm.

This session will be taken by Michael McNeill.

Michael is a manager in the VAT team in Belfast.  Michael studied law at Queen's and he is a Chartered Tax Adviser.

Michael has been in practice for some 6 years and advises all sectors of business and commerce in Northern Ireland and beyond.  He advises a cross section of the third sector in Northern Ireland from providing VAT advice for government and quasi-governmental organisations to assisting many of charitable organisations in Northern Ireland on all aspects of their VAT affairs with particular focus on property VAT issues.
